About Us
The Montgomery County Business Development Center is truly your "Gateway to Success". Representing an area that can provide optimum location for businesses to expand or relocate, the MCBDC can provide access to real estate solutions, financial assistance and incentives, a skilled labor pool, superior infrastructure, as well as business development and technical assistance.
The Montgomery County Business Development Center (MCBDC) contains the offices of the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development and Planning and the Montgomery County Industrial Development Agency (MCIDA). By joining forces and pooling resources, the County and the MCIDA provide professional economic development assistance to businesses interested in expanding or relocating in Montgomery County.
MCBDC's mission is to sustain and enhance the quality of life in Montgomery County through the creation of jobs. The Center's programs are designed to diversify the employment base of the County by adding jobs through the attraction, retention, and expansion of firms with the hope to alleviate unemployment and underemployment in the County.
Business Attraction is a primary goal of the MCBDC, but retaining and expanding existing businesses is vital to the economic health of Montgomery County as well. MCBDC works directly with local employers to promote capital investments and job creation, and to reduce the risk of closure or relocation out of the County. Services delivered by MCBDC include needs assessments, identification of expansion opportunities and securing financial, technical, marketing, and training resources. Through the MCBDC, Montgomery County businesses can access loans and grants acquisition and/or expansion. The MCIDA can provide long-term tax-exempt bond financing with lower interest rates than are available through conventional financing.
One key factor influencing location and expansion decisions is the ability of companies to recruit and retain a qualified and trained workforce. MCBDC recognizes this and has responded with an aggressive, pro-active workforce development strategy linking the Local Workforce Development Board and Community College with existing and potential employers. This strategy is designed to help employers gain access to the trained jobseekers they need in order to secure a stable workforce and to fuel their growth and retention.
Another factor that has become increasingly important to businesses is the availability of the Amsterdam-Florida-Glen Empire Zone in Montgomery County. The purpose of this zone is to spur business development and revitalization by offering enhanced tax credits and business incentives to companies creating jobs in designated locations throughout the County.
Zone activities include identifying and certifying businesses that qualify for EZ incentives, allocating Zone capital credits to eligible business projects and marketing EZ benefits to companies looking to relocate to Montgomery County.
With all this said, let it be known that the Montgomery County Business Development Center understands that choosing a location for your business is one of the most critical decisions your company will ever have to make. The location you determine today will impact your business tomorrow. You will come to Montgomery County for our business opportunities; you will stay for our community spirit and commitment.
